Partnership Between the Arizona Cyber Warfare Range and Pima Community College

If you’re interested in learning more about cybersecurity locally, then you may want to take advantage of the new resources that the Arizona Cyber Warfare Range has brought to Pima Community College.  The Cyber Warfare Range is a volunteer-backed non-profit with the mission to drive cybersecurity innovation with live, augmented teaching methods.  Both PCC and the Range will now serve as local sources for educating and promoting the cybersecurity field, with the intent to train employment-ready individuals by teaching them about current cybersecurity technology.

One particularly exciting result of the collaboration between PCC and the Cyber Warfare Range is a new program that features live-fire cyber warfare meant to simulate actual cybersecurity events.  The program offers techniques, technology and hands-on training with augmented software – all of which are meant to prepare cybersecurity professionals for real-world situations.  Individuals will leave the program ready to be hired to protect the welfare of various businesses, individuals, and government entities.

In addition to providing community resources, the Cyber Warfare Range program will work in conjunction with a new degree that PCC will be offering, i.e., a Cybersecurity Associate of Applied Science Degree.  Students obtaining this degree will be prepared for immediate employment in the cybersecurity work force.  Moreover, the degree will complement PCC’s existing programming, networking and 2+2 transfer programs for the University of Arizona’s NSA designated programs.

With the addition of the Cyber Warfare Range and the new degree program, Pima Community College is working to create an IT Center of Excellence here in southern Arizona that they hope will be looked up to for its technological innovations and community involvement.

I have recently become familiar with the Cyber Warfare Range and PCC’s new degree program and can easily see it becoming a crucial center for cybersecurity information, innovation and education that will provide great learning opportunities for students, business owners, technology professionals and other local individuals.  Consider stopping in at the Arizona Cyber Warfare Range’s next open house at PCC’s Eastside location or contact them personally to learn more!
