2020 Year in Review

As this year comes to an end, so does another year in sharing blogs about a variety of matters. 2020 has been an unprecedented year in many ways, changing our lives and helping to mold how the future will look. Over the past 12 months, my blogs have covered a variety of topics, including COVID-19, business law, cybersecurity and more. Let’s take some time to reflect on each of these matters as we begin to shift our focus to the year ahead:

2020 began with a reflection on the year past, with a look back at all of the blogs I published in 2019. The change in year is an optimal time for reflection, providing a great chance to share past blogs as I am doing now. Many of these subjects are as relevant and important as they were when published and some  have even been expanded upon since publication.

Since employees are often considered a weak link in your business’ security, training and protocols are one of the best means of protecting against this type of attack.

While insurance is a common denominator for many aspects of life, insurance for business isn’t always common. What most often needs to be kept in mind with business insurance are the possibilities of property damage, accidents, and legal issues. This blog discusses these issues and identifies some important considerations regarding business insurance.

COVID-19 brought along a new array of challenges for employees needing to take care of their personal health or the wellbeing of others and, in response, Congress passed the Families First Coronavirus Response Act. This act created new employer obligations with regard to sick pay and sick leave related to COVID.  The Act, which is detailed in the blog is effective until the end of December 2020, as it stands now.

November – Methods of Business Succession https://kdwinger.com/2020/11/12/methods-of-business-succession/ This article discusses the different types of business succession methods that you may want to consider, as this is a crucial part of its continuation for years to come. The types and their benefits will depend on your personal preference, needs and company structure, with some room for you to decide based on what best suits your wishes.

All of these blogs still carry great re-read value, whether further information has been made available or not. In many cases, these aspects of business law and cybersecurity they discuss are crucial to keep in mind.  Additionally, staying updated on the latest COVID-19 regulations is pivotal to understanding these changing times.
